The lake itself doesn’t require much comment. It’s picturesque, there’s some fish in it, though not a lot, and there are wonderful fishermen’s and craftsmen’s villages right on the water.

Само озеро вряд ли требует пояснений. Оно красивое, в нем есть рыба, хотя не очень много, и на нем прямо на воде стоят замечательные деревни, где живут рыбаки и ремесленники.
А вот здесь уже надо рассказать. Это храм, находящийся в огромной горной пещерной системе примерно по дороге от аэропорта до озера Инле. Сама пещера людям известна, разумеется, много сотен лет. Но храм сравнительно новый; точно никто сказать не может, но, похоже, ему не больше 100 лет. Храм производит сильнейшее впечатление. Его удивительная особенность в том, что все те сотни позолоченных изваяний Будды (кстати, не только позолоченных, а есть и нефритовые, и хрустальные), которые его населяют, стоя на полу, гнездясь на стенах и прячась за сталактитами и сталагмитами,- все эти изваяния являются по сути приношениями верующих со всего мира.
В силу финансовых обстоятельств каждого статуя может быть больше или меньше, и при каждой обязательно есть табличка с именем и родной страной или городом дарителя. Когда смотришь на эти таблички и представляешь себе всех этих людей из совершенно разных уголков земного шара,- Австралия, Таиланд, Америка, Россия, Филиппины, Китай, – разного возраста, национальностей, разных причудливых судеб, которые как-то оказались здесь, в сердце Мьянмар, в горах, в пещере, чтобы обратиться к высшей силе с какой-то невыносимо важной мольбой, или выразить благодарность за какой-то непередаваемо дорогой подарок судьбы,- эмоции обуревают.

Here a story is needed. This temple is located in a huge mountain cave system roughly on the road from the airport to the Inle lake. The cave itself has naturally been known to people for ages. Yet the temple ia relatively new, it doesn’t count more than a 100 years, seemingly less. The temple produces a strongest impression. It’s inhabited by hundreds of Buddhas who stand on the floor, or nestle in some cracks in the walls, or hide behind stalactites and stalagmites. And it’s profoundly distinct from all other temples by all of these Buddhas being in essence offerings from believers from all around the world.
As a function of personal financial situations each statue may be larger or smaller, and each bears a plaque with the donor’s name and home country. One becomes overwhelmed with emotion when looking at all these names from all the corners of the globe – Australia, Thailand, Philippines, the USA, Russia, China,- and imagining all these people with such different life stories and situations, different ages, finding themselves here in the very heart of Myanmar to address the higher force with some unbearably urgent prayer, or express their thanks for a gift larger than can be imagined…

Early in the morning one can spot a few balloons used for sightseeing. I’m not sure it’s worth the while hanging up there above the lake, but the balloons themselves make for a mesmerising sight
